Saturday, May 11th at 11:00am-1:00 PM

Celebrate World Collage Day with a fun, hands-on art event! Join members of the Arts Council of Glen Rock for two hours of creating unique collages using various materials. This event is perfect for all skill levels, so come explore your creativity and be a part of this artistic celebration. Adults and teenagers are welcome. No instruction and no fee to participate.

WE ARE OUT OF ECLIPSE GLASSES!

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. In Glen Rock, the sun will be approximately 90 percent covered.

Solar eclipse glasses will be available at the front desk April 1-8.
Please show your Glen Rock Public Library card. One pair of glasses per card.

Community Read: How the Word is Passed - Zoom

Community groups in Glen Rock, Fair Lawn and Ridgewood are joining together for our annual Community Read that explores a pressing social issue. Join us in reading How The Word Is Passed  by Clint Smith, winner of the National Book Critics Award for Nonfiction, which asks us how to confront how we approach, understand and teach about slavery.

Books are available upon request at the Library and are available to download on the Libby app.

Pumpkin Painting

For grades K-8

Registration opens September 15th at 10 AM.

Join us on the front lawn of the library to paint and decorate a real pumpkin! We will be using paint so please dress accordingly! The program will be help downstairs in the Community Room in case of inclement weather.

There are two registration links, one for grades K-5 and one for grades 6-8. Be sure to sign up for the correct age group or you may lose your spot.

End of Summer Reading Celebration

All Ages

All good things must come to an end and so goes another year of Summer Reading. Let’s send it out in style with a celebration! There will be crafts for children and teens, an underwater photo booth, snacks, a gallery show from the Summer Watercolor Class, Summer Reading certificates for those who participated, and more!

The children and teen raffle winners will be chosen at the end of the celebration so make sure to get all of your tickets submitted before 5:00 PM!

Join us for the Beginner's Guide to Arcade Games: Code Your Own Games workshop.

In this workshop, participants will use block coding to create games with MakeCode Arcade. Participants will learn about the game design concept of sprites and the computer science concepts of coordinates and variables.

Join your neighbors outdoors for a moderated conversation about ensuring a fair and just community. Guided by the National Issues Forums (NIF), the structured afternoon offers the opportunity to talk deliberately and respectfully about a difficult issue and discover shared common values. NIF is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, organization. The event will take place at the Library under a tent with socially distanced seating. This Community Conversation is made possible by the American Library Association’s Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries Grant awarded to the Glen Rock Public Library. In this presentation will be led by Ron Feuchs and Jackie Tepper, partners at Stand Out For College, LLC, explore how students can engage with colleges virtually to help them develop a preliminary list of colleges to consider visiting when campuses are fully open.

Discover how admissions officers are handling the current situation and how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission.
